Terms of sale and use
Last updated: 8 October 2026 (version 2026-10-08)
These terms apply when you create an account, try the free module or buy the Sharpe & Clear Level I course. We wrote them in plain words. By creating an account or buying, you accept them.
In short
- A personal license for one person, with up to 3 devices signed in at once.
- You buy through Link, a Stripe company. Sharpe & Clear provides the course.
- Access until one week after the exam window you choose, and one free extension to your next 2027 window if you fail or defer your exam.
- All 87 modules from the day you buy, with every update included.
- Access starts at once, so the 14-day right of withdrawal ends when it starts: you confirm this before you pay.
- Refunds for a double payment, a technical failure we cannot fix, content not as described, or where the law requires it, if you ask within 60 days.
- Self-study only, and no promise of exam results.
Who sells the course
- You buy through Link. The course is sold through Link (Sold through Link, LLC), a Stripe company: the checkout page shows "Sold through Link", Link handles your payment, and your receipt and invoice come by email. In the EU, the UK, the US and many other countries, Link also calculates, collects and pays the VAT or sales tax. In the countries it does not cover, the invoice is issued in the name of Sharpe & Clear, and any tax due is ours.
- Sharpe & Clear provides the course. We ("we", "us") run sharpeandclear.com and the study platform at app.sharpeandclear.com. We give you access, keep the content up to date and answer your questions about the course and your access at hello@sharpeandclear.com.
The course
- The Sharpe & Clear Level I course is an online study course for CFA® Program Level I candidates. It follows the 2027 Level I topic areas and topic weights published by CFA Institute.
- It is digital content that you use in your browser: short lessons, interactive tools, exam-style practice questions with written explanations, flashcards, trap cards and cheat sheets.
- It has 87 modules on the ten Level I topic areas, all available from the day you buy.
- It is fully automated self-study. It includes no tutoring, no personal coaching and no answers to individual study questions.
- It is educational content, not investment advice.
Your account
- You sign in with your email address, using a link or a code that we send you. There is no password, so keep your mailbox safe: whoever can read it can sign in.
- An account is for one person. Up to 3 devices can be signed in at once. If you sign in on a new device while 3 are already signed in, the one you used least recently is signed out automatically.
- To prevent sharing, device changes are limited to 10 in any 30 days. After that, your signed-in devices keep working, and you can add a new device again once the oldest of those changes is more than 30 days old. If you need more, write to us.
- Tell us at once if you think someone else is using your account.
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings. This also ends any paid access.
Your personal license
- When you buy, you get a personal, non-transferable license to use the course for your own study, during your access period.
- The course (texts, pictures, interactive tools, questions, cards and animations) belongs to Sharpe & Clear. You may take notes and print cheat sheets for your own use.
- You may not share your account, give anyone else access, or copy, sell, publish or record the course.
Price and payment
- The price is the one shown when you buy, on the course page and at checkout. The founding member price is $99, until 31 October 2026 at 23:59 Central European Time (CET), or until the first 100 buyers have joined, whichever comes first. The launch price of $149 then applies until 31 January 2027, and the standard price of $199 from 1 February 2027. Every price gives access until your exam.
- Prices are in US dollars and include VAT or sales tax where it applies. Checkout may show the amount in your own currency.
- It is a single payment for access until your exam. There is no subscription and nothing renews.
- Link and Stripe process the payment. We never see your full card details. On your card statement, the payment appears as LINK.COM* SHARPECLEAR.
Immediate access and your right of withdrawal
The course is digital content, and you get access as soon as your payment goes through.
In the EU and the UK, consumers normally have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. For digital content, this right ends once access starts, if you asked for immediate access and confirmed that you understood this.
So, before you pay, you tick a required box: "I want immediate access, and I understand that I lose my 14-day right of withdrawal once access starts." You cannot buy without it. Your confirmation email repeats it.
That is why you can try the course before you buy: the live pieces on the course page and the full free module.
Access until your exam
- "Until your exam" means until one week after the last day of the Level I exam window you choose at checkout, among the 2027 windows offered there. The exact end date is shown before you pay. Example: with the May 2027 window (11 to 17 May 2027), your access runs until 24 May 2027.
- When your access ends, your account stays open with the free module, and you can still download your data.
One free extension
If you fail your Level I exam, or defer it to a later window, we extend your access once per purchase, free of charge, to the Level I exam window you sit next, if it is in 2027. Your access then runs until one week after the last day of that window. The extension stops at the 2027 windows because the course follows the 2027 exam topics.
Write to hello@sharpeandclear.com from your account email before your access ends, and tell us the new window. We don't ask for proof.
Updates to the content
- We keep improving the course: we correct mistakes, clarify lessons and add practice. Updates are included in your access.
- We may reorganize modules, but we will not remove the substance of what you bought during your access period.
- If you find a mistake, tell us: we check every report and fix confirmed mistakes for everyone.
No guarantee of exam results
We work hard to make the course accurate, clear and useful. But we do not guarantee that you will pass, or any score: your result depends on your own work and on the exam. The course is not investment advice.
Refunds
Because access starts at once (see Immediate access above), there are no change-of-mind refunds. We refund:
- a double payment;
- a technical failure that we cannot fix;
- content that is not as described;
- and any case where the law requires it.
Ask within 60 days of your purchase, by email to hello@sharpeandclear.com. We reply within 2 working days. A refund is paid back through Link and Stripe, to the payment method you used, and a full refund ends your paid access.
Link can also refund a purchase itself, within 60 days, under its own refund policy. If its policy and ours differ, Link's policy applies. How to ask and how long it takes: refund policy.
Acceptable use
Please don't:
- share your account, or your sign-in links and codes;
- copy the course in bulk, scrape it, or use bots or scripts to access it;
- record, publish or resell any part of it, or upload it to other websites, file-sharing services or AI tools;
- try to get around the device limit or any other protection;
- disrupt the service or try to break into it.
If you break these rules, we may suspend or close your account. If we close it for a serious breach, such as sharing or reselling access, we do not refund the price.
If something goes wrong: our liability
- We do our best to keep the course correct and online, but we provide it as it is. It may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance.
- We are not liable for indirect losses, such as lost earnings, or for your exam result.
- Our total liability to you is limited to the price you paid.
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability where the law does not allow it, for example for intent, gross negligence, or harm to life, body or health. Nothing limits your rights as a consumer under mandatory law.

Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when the law or the course changes. The date at the top shows the latest version, and the app asks you to accept a new version the next time you sign in. A change never reduces what you already paid for: your price, your access period, your free extension and your refund rights stay as they were when you bought.
Your consumer rights
If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms takes away the protection that the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live gives you. If something goes wrong, please write to us first: we reply within 2 working days, and most problems are solved by email.
